The sun shines brighter

In the morning when you wake up think about what makes
the sun shine brighter on your day.

Or something like that.  Jaydon and I popped into Starbucks today and as we were waiting on my drink, we were talking about the decor - colors, shapes, etc.  One of the pictures had that written on it.  Obviously it kind of got me thinking about what makes the sun shine brighter on my day.  I have contemplated it for awhile.  I have concluded that simply counting my blessing from God every morning - not that I do it - makes the sun shine brighter.  I am so blessed.  Here are a few I have counted today -

1.  My Boys
I am blessed with a wonderful husband who loves me and his boys.  He gets up everyday and goes to work so he can provide for us.  I am blessed that we are okay.  I don't have to worry about my marriage being on the brink of disaster.  He is a great father who throws the football with Dylan and plays "Batcave" with Jaydon.  He makes me laugh.  My little boys provide lots of life and activity.  There is never a dull or boring moment.  They tell me they love me and give me wonderful hugs.  My boys are a blessing.

2.  My Family
I am blessed to have a fabulous family.  My parents are the best in the world.  They still love each other after many years of marriage.  They would do anything for their kids and grandkids.  They bring smiles to my boys faces.  My sister and brother are great.  I love watching them "grow up" and following their adventures in this life.  I am better because of them.  My sister and bro-in-law are about to make me an aunt.  (I can't wait.)  It will be so much fun to watch them enter the world of becoming parents.  I am blessed that we are so close and love each other so much.  We have shared tears of joy and happiness and tears of sadness and pain.  We have shared hugs and high-fives and lots of fun and for this I am blessed.

3.  My Health
Surprisingly I find blessings in my health.  I am blessed because I have hope in the midst of the pain and confusion.  I don't know how I would have made it these last 10 years without my feet on the Rock.  I have taken more medications than I care to admit, been a pin cushion for countless nurses, initialed shoulders, elbows, and hips so a doctor would know which joint to work on, and sat waiting rooms being the only person without grey hair.  I never imagined this would be my life course, but it is.  I don't like it, but I am better for it.  I can see God's hand in my life and will gladly share it with anyone who will listen.  I am blessed because I know God is forever with me in the valleys and on the mountain tops.  I am blessed because my Saviour is my bright light amid the darkness.

So this is a brief list of what makes my sun shine brighter in the morning.  I could go on and on, but it is hard to write when a three year old is demanding my attention.  I am thankful I read those words this morning and will try to more often remember the things that make my sun and the Son shine brighter in the morning.  I hope you will think about it too.

Action Award

It's time to brag about Dylan.  Thankfully this come so naturally.  :)

He received an award at school today.  This Friday teachers of 2nd and 3rd graders were to choose students from their classrooms who exemplified one of the characteristics from the Pyramid Blocks.  The students were awarded for one of the following:

Poise
Confidence
Fitness
Skill
Team Spirit
Self Control
Alertness
Action
Determination
Hard Work
Friendship
Loyalty
Cooperation
Enthusiasm
Personal Best

The Pyramid Blocks are posted in the office and the student's picture is placed on the Pyramid of Success.  Dylan's name was called for being awarded the Action Award.  We then went to his classroom and Mr. Stansbury read the following explaining why he received the award:

Dylan Aldrich earned a place on Abby Reinke's Pyramid of Success for his daily action.  Dylan does his personal best every day.  He is ready to take action because he is prepared to learn.  He is not afraid to try.  He gives 100% and gives his all everyday.  When action is needed he heeds the call and never stalls.  He takes action and does not waste time.  He gets moving and takes action so he can succeed.  He does his personal best.

We are so proud of Dylan's efforts in 2nd grade.  We know he will accomplish great things as he continues to grow in all areas of his education.  We pray he continues to work hard and has a great year.

Growing, growing, growing

We took Jaydon to his three year old check up yesterday.  We pulled in the parking lot and he said, "Not this place.  Oh, man!"  I was a bit surprised he remembered because the boys rarely get sick and we are usually at the doctor only for check ups.  We are so blessed to have healthy boys.

I won't bore you with all the details, but he checked out to be a healthy three year old boy.  The doctor asked him his name and he said, "I, Jaydon."  She then asked how old he was and he said, "I, Jaydon.  I, two."  He then looked at me and said, "No, I three."  He jumped up and down and hopped on one foot and was very interested in all the tools used to check his eyes, ears, and heart.  Well, the 6 lb. 4 oz. 19 1/4 in. baby boy I held in my arms for the first time on August 10, 2006 has grown to 37 lbs. and 38 in.  So if your asking how does that compare to other little boys - 94th percentile in weight and 60th percentile in height.  He may never be a football player, but he certainly looks like a miniature football player now.

All the more to love!!!  And we do love him so much.

Reason #289 Why 3 year old boys ROCK

#289 - They can't go to bed without their super hero cape attached to their pjs.

I picked up Jaydon to take him to bed last night and he wouldn't go until he had his Batman cape attached to his jammies.   Fast forward to this morning and it wasn't Jaydon I said "good morning" to, it was Batman, of course.

After coercing him out of his Batman pjs, he is now wearing his Superman t-shirt.

Now these are the moments I do love.
